Serene Gallery is pleased to present the second installment of the Kosmos exhibition program, curated by Riccardo Lisi: "Picnic at the Roadside", a dual exhibition featuring Ticino-based artists Sandro Pianetti and Marco Scorti, both born in 1987.
The exhibition delves into the relationship between nature and human intervention. Marco Scorti's realistic paintings and drawings often highlight anthropogenic elements such as ruins, remnants of boundary markers, and recent constructions. Sandro Pianetti, through his sculptures and bas-reliefs, employs natural elements collected during outdoor walks, such as tree fungi, resin, and wood—which he then transforms into modified objets troués.
The exhibition's title is inspired by the science fiction novel Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, which served as the basis for Andrei Tarkovsky's film Stalker. In the novel, the "Zone" is a mysterious area filled with alien artifacts left behind after an extraterrestrial visit, attracting "stalkers" who illegally enter to retrieve these objects. Tarkovsky's Stalker (1979) is considered a masterpiece of philosophical cinema, exploring themes of faith, desire, and the human condition through a metaphysical journey.
We invite you to join us in experiencing this new artistic endeavour.
