Irene Tabanelli
Born in 2003 in Ozzano Emilia (Bologna) and raised in Sestola, Modena, Irene Tabanelli has always balanced her passion for the mountains with her love for art. She studied at the G. Soraperra Art High School while taking part in the Ski College program in Pozza di Fassa, a combination that reflects her dual path as both artist and ski instructor.
Since 2022, she has been pursuing a degree in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. In 2023/2024, she broadened her horizons through an Erasmus exchange at the École Supérieure d’Art et Design in Valence, France. Now based in Venice, she continues her studies while spending winters teaching skiing in Val di Fassa.
Although at the very beginning of her artistic journey, Irene approaches each project with curiosity and a drive to explore new techniques and mediums. Her current research is rooted in action painting and conceptual art, which she brings to life through the powerful and immediate language of performance.
Stefano Cagol
Born in 1969, Stefano Cagol is an Italian contemporary artist specialising in performance art and art-installations. He studied at the Accademia di Brera in Milan and received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Canadian government at Toronto Metropolitan University.
His practice encompasses video, installations, and performance art and reflects on issues of climate, energy, and borders, and stands out for its ability to oscillate between technology and nature.
Stefano has participated in NOOR Riyadh 2024, OFF Biennale Cairo in 2019 and 2023, the Venice Biennale in 2011, 2013, and 2022, and the Water Light Festival, Italia in all editions from 2019 to 2023. He received the Italian Council Award in 2019 and 2023. He first received international recognition for his artwork, The Ice Monolith, exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 2013. In it, a block of ice from the Alps was filmed melting over three days, raising questions about the impending climate crisis.
Stefano Cagol is primarily associated with Conceptual Art, Land Art, and Environmental Art/Eco Art. His research revolves around themes of human interference in nature, and their relationship with the environment. Cagol's stylistic approach is characterised by a conceptual presence of individual elements, shamanic solitude, and a reflection on the impact of human actions on the planet.
