Sandro Pianetti (born 1987 in Zug) is a Swiss visual artist and interaction designer who lives and works between Locarno and Lugano. Raised in Italian-speaking Switzerland, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from ÉCAL in Lausanne and later completed a Master of Advanced Studies in Interaction Design at SUPSI in Lugano.
Pianetti's artistic practice focuses on sculpture and installation, primarily utilizing organic materials such as tree fungi, resin, and wood collected during outdoor walks. These natural elements are transformed through unconventional and innovative techniques involving heat, pressure, and vacuum, exploring the relationship between humans and creation systems, and expressing an interest in the generative and transformative processes—both natural and artificial—of the materials used.
Since 2017, Pianetti has been an active member of Sonnenstube, an independent contemporary art space in Lugano. He also collaborates as an interaction designer with the Markus Zohner Arts Company, contributing to projects that integrate art and technology. Pianetti exhibited his works in numerous spaces and institutions, including La Regionale in Lugano (2023), Espace libre in Biel/Bienne (2022), Spazio Officina in Chiasso (2022 and 2019), Residenza La Fornace (2018), Oficina Cero in Buenos Aires (2019), Spiegleray in Zurich (2018), La Rada in Locarno (2018), and Sonnenstube in Lugano (2017).
